You can't choose who you love. No matter how hard you try to fight it, romantic feelings will still find their way into your heart. True enough, the heart wants what it wants. So, if you're in a relationship with a man who is difficult to deal with, you need to know how to make it work with him.
Is it worth it?
Some people are worth fighting for but others are not. Ask yourself if this man is really worth the difficulty. The challenge of dating someone who isn't as easygoing may be exhilarating maybe that's why you do your best to keep him. However, you might feel down most of the time because you're often the one who has to compromise. Do you think your relationship can still be saved? You need to determine if it is really worth all the effort that you're putting in.
Stand up to him.
Just because he is difficult, it doesn't mean that you don't get to have a say in the relationship. You need not to be passive or hide your feelings. Avoid keeping your opinions to yourself too. Stand up for yourself and let him know what's on your mind when he's being difficult. Whether you are in a heated argument or just a light debate, don't concede right away when you know you have a point. Make him see that you are his equal.
Teach him a thing or two about compromise.
You might make more compromises every now and then but it doesn't mean that you should completely neglect your needs too. Your relationship is about the two of you, not just him. If he decides on something that will drastically affect your relationship, like say taking some time apart or turning the exclusive relationship into an open one, don't tolerate it just because you're afraid of losing him. Unless you're fine with that, don't let him make you sacrifice your needs. Teach him how to be ####of the relationship. However, a relationship with a difficult man may not work out well all the time, so don't let him break you that easily.
Don't just wait around at his beck and call.
A healthy relationship involves hard work and both persons should be exerting effort. It may not be given in the same amount or in the same way, but there should be some form of effort coming from both sides. Pouring your devotion onto a man who isn't as into you as you are to him won't make him love you. And because he knows you will always be there to cater to all his needs, there's a big chance that he'll take you for granted.
Know when it's time to go.
Know your limit. Know when it's best to work things out and when it's best to end the relationship. No matter how much work you have put in, how much love you have given, or how much care you have showed, if he still doesn't do his part in the relationship, maybe it's time to let him go. If he doesn't want the relationship to go in the same direction that you want, it might be the right time to part ways. Life is too short to waste your time on someone who doesn't see your worth. Do yourself a favor and find someone who'll give you the love, care, and effort that you deserve.
