Dating is fun and exciting, but not everyone you date can give you what you want. It can take some time to find the right person for you. If you are fortunate enough, you may find the right one on your first try. But oftentimes, you have to get into several relationships before you find "the one".

Ask about his stand on commitment indirectly
It's not a secret that some guys are allergic to commitment. However, it's not nice to ask him right away whether he's willing to commit in a long-term relationship with you, especially on the first date or during the early stages of a relationship.

The truth is, no matter how much you like someone, if the way you interact with each other looks like you're two species from totally different planets, the chances of your relationship working is slim.
So, create a list of the things that matter to you, and then ask him what his opinions are about these things. If you learn that you have similar mindsets, you can take it as a sign that you are compatible.
Ask about his future plans
If your dream future involves having a family, the guy you're in a relationship with must also have the same goals. Ask him what his future plans are. Find out if he sees you in it, and if he also wants the same things as you do.
If you want to have children, but he doesn't see himself as a father in the future, this could create a conflict.
However, you have to pick the right timing when you ask about this. Avoid asking this when you've just started dating as it could scare him. Wait until you feel that your relationship is getting deeper. This way, he'll be more comfortable answering such serious questions. If your future plans don't align, he may be not the one for you.
