Tips for Looking your Best on a Date

The early stages of dating are always one of the most nerve-wracking as you both try to be your best selves while measuring each other's relationship potential. If you are still on your first few dates, appearances are one of the most important aspects to look after. You may not be able to control how well the date goes but at least you can control how you look. To help you out are some tips on how to look your best on a date.

Dress for the occasion

Find out what type of date you're going to before picking an outfit. This helps narrow down your wardrobe choice and pick an outfit that'll make you feel comfortable throughout the date. If you're going out on a picnic, a polo shirt, khaki shorts, and boat shoes might be more appropriate for men. For a romantic dinner at a fancy restaurant, that little black dress you've been hiding in your closet could be the best pick.

Pick clothes that fit you well

Chances are, these are the same clothes that will look good on you. It doesn't have to be a certain label or style. If it fits you well, you will feel more confident. And we all know that confidence is sometimes enough to pull off even the drabbest outfit. Take your time looking through your closet for clothes you get the most compliments on. Try them out, and see which one you feel the most comfortable in.

Show a little skin

You don't have to bear it all nor should you cover it all up. Consider wearing something that will highlight a body part you feel the most confident about whether it's your biceps, flat tummy, or legs.

Do a hygiene check

Having proper hygiene is a requirement for any date. A major hygiene item you should not miss is brushing your teeth. You want to be able to confidently smile and converse with your date without having to worry about teeth stains or bad breath.

Putting on some deodorant on and spraying a bit of perfume is also a must. If you want to go the extra mile, you can go to the salon to get a blow dry or a trim. If you have a beard, comb it out and trim scraggly ends with a beard trimmer or better yet, get a clean shave. For women, try accentuating your best facial features with light makeup instead of hiding them under caky makeup.

Keep your back straight

No good outfit gets noticed if the person wearing it has poor posture. Slouching can make even the best clothes look bad. Practice walking and sitting with your back straight. Not only is this good for your spine health, it's also an instant confidence booster. The more confident you are, the more you will shine in your outfit.

Feel good on the inside

We've only covered the things you can do to look good but did you know that how you feel can greatly affect the way you look? Days before your date, make sure to get adequate sleep. Workout to get some of those feel-good endorphins and drink lots of water. Water helps you feel full faster making you less likely to eat and feel bloated, and it also clears up your skin.

Remember, it's not always about how you look but how you carry yourself. Pay attention to your date, enjoy their company, be positive, and your date will notice. You might be surprised to find out later on your date that they like you for who you are, looks are just a bonus!
